DC Adventure Films Presents - Flakes, In Deep, They Came From

As winter enthusiasts prepare for the upcoming snow season, there’s nothing better to ramp up the excitement of a first chair on an epic powder day, a 540 tail grab off a kicker in the terrain park, or powering down a tight gladded chute, than watching others on film doing just that. All you can think about afterwards is where to go for the winter chill in your face and your first tracks!
DC Adventure Films (DCAF) is hosting a one night winter film series as the only Mid-Atlantic premiere stop to instill the excitement of winter to the passionate adventure community that call the Washington, DC area home. The collection of cutting edge films shot on Red and High-Def by the world’s best production companies spread the gamut of winter mountain activities—skiing, snowboarding, and telemark skiing.
In honor of the late, Shane McConkey, Matchstick Productions spliced together a special tribute section in their 2009 film, In Deep. To extend this tribute to praise the life of such an iconic progressive skier and his alter ego, Saucer Boy, DCAF will be awarding the prize of the night for best Saucer Boy costume (audience selected) so wear your finest neon attire. “Flakes” is a progressive telemark skiing film captured in High-Definition from Aspen, Ushuaia, The Wasatch, Haines, The San Juans, Valdez, and El Chalten. The Powderwhore crew searched out challenging and beautiful mountains that needed to be skied.
